Friends, Skin Tags and too many Pies!
Having recently been to a friends birthday dinner for pie night, I was talking about my new treatment Cryotherapy, which freezes warts, skin tags, verrucas and moles. Don’t worry we ate the pie first before talking tags!
I was quite shocked to find 3 of the guys sat at the table all had skin tags on their necks, well Pauls’ was more like a frisbee but ill come back to that in a minute.
But it got me thinking that there must be a lot of men and women who have these funny little growths but feel too embarrassed to see anyone or talk about it.
In recent years cosmetic clinics are seeing an ever-increasing rise in skin tag, mole, wart and verucca removal. The NHS website explains that this is due to skin tags/moles being harmless and as they do not cause discomfort or pain they are merely seen as a cosmetic procedure that Doctors do not have the time in clinic to remove.
Anyone can develop skin tags, but they are particularly common in older people. Some people develop them for no apparent reason but it is thought skin tags grow where skin rubs against skin or clothing. This would explain why they tend to affect overweight people who have excess folds of skin and skin chafing.
The most common area I treat these tags is on the face and neck area, but as in Paul and the Frisbees case they can grow in the armpit and groin area too! Mmm lovely!
Now back to the Frisbee… Frisbee was removed at 14.00hrs today. Paul and Frisbee are doing well and in recovery lol
